🚀 Virginia Continues to Lead in Advanced Air Mobility
The FAA has selected Electra.aero, based in Manassas, as one of the companies participating in the new Advanced Air Mobility & eVTOL Integration Pilot Program — a major national effort to test and validate next‑generation aircraft in real‑world environments.
Over the next three years, Electra will support four of the program’s eight projects, contributing to demonstrations across 26 states and helping shape the safety regulations that will guide the future of hybrid‑electric and ultra‑short takeoff aircraft. This includes work on regional air mobility, cargo logistics, emergency response, and autonomous operations.
Virginia continues to play a pivotal role in AAM innovation — from Electra’s EL9 development to the state’s Advanced Air Mobility Smart Airspace program, which is building the infrastructure needed for safe, scalable operations.
This is another strong step toward unlocking new transportation capabilities, strengthening the aerospace industrial base, and expanding economic opportunity across the Commonwealth.

The FAA’s new eVTOL Integration Pilot Program (eIPP) is a major step toward bringing advanced air mobility into safe, repeatable, real‑world operations. By focusing on data-driven testing and performance-based standards, this initiative strengthens regulatory confidence and accelerates the path to scalable AAM deployment.
With eight pilot projects across 26 states, industry, government, and community partners are advancing use cases ranging from emergency response to cargo and passenger operations. AUVSI will continue working closely with the FAA to support rulemaking that strengthens the U.S. aerospace industrial base and enables greater automation and autonomy.
